Rogue One (2016)

Set just before Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, this standalone film tells the story of the Rebel Alliance's daring mission to steal the plans for the Empire’s ultimate weapon, the Death Star. Jyn Erso, the daughter of the Death Star's reluctant designer, Galen Erso, is recruited by the Rebels to track down her father and recover vital information about the station’s vulnerabilities. Teaming up with a ragtag group that includes Captain Cassian Andor, reprogrammed Imperial droid K-2SO, blind Force believer Chirrut Îmwe, and warrior Baze Malbus, Jyn leads a desperate mission to the planet Scarif. Despite overwhelming odds, the team succeeds in transmitting the Death Star plans to the Rebel fleet, sacrificing themselves in the process. The film ends with the plans safely in the hands of Princess Leia, setting up the events of A New Hope.
